Wiltshire Children’s Practitioner Forum
As part of a wider review of our meetings, we have decided to merge our North & South Practitioner Forums into a single Children’s Practitioner Forum.
The Children’s Practitioner Forum provides an opportunity for practitioners from all agencies to come together and reflect on our safeguarding system, with any concerns raised being fed into relevant partnership sub-groups, as well as providing an opportunity to network and learn about the work of other agencies. It also provides an opportunity for the partnership to test ideas and gain views directly from practitioners.
We will also be using the refreshed forum as an opportunity to explore the use of the Graded Care Profile 2 as a key tool for practice, sharing any insights from the NSPCC and providing an opportunity for practitioners to explore with others the use of the tool.
As we are refreshing the forum, we are also refreshing our invite list, and would ask that colleagues please register at SVPP Childrens Practitioner Forum Registration – Fill in form
The first meeting is planned for Tuesday 10th March 9am – 10.30am, but even if you are unable to attend on that occasion, please do add yourself to the list.
We will also shortly be launching an Adult Practitioner Forum, and more details will follow.
The Trilogy of Risk Steering Group
In January 2024, the Wiltshire Council Public Health Team established the Trilogy of Risk Steering Group. The trilogy of risk* is a term used to describe co-occurring domestic abuse, substance use and poor mental health, and the steering group is a multi-agency meeting, providing strategic direction around the trilogy of risk in Wiltshire. The steering group is attended by representatives from domestic abuse, substance use and mental health services, alongside wider services such as health, police, and social care. Members aim to strengthen collaborative working between services, raise awareness of the support available, provide opportunities for joined-up comms messaging, share best practice, and gather data in order to identify trends and gaps in service provision.
As the group approaches the end of its second year, the Public Health Team will undertake a 2-year review, supplemented by a stakeholder survey, to identify the successes and challenges of the steering group, identify priorities, and inform next steps.
If you’re interested in learning more about the work of this group, or if you’d like to hear about the services available to individuals impacted by the trilogy of risk in Wiltshire, please visit the web page here - Trilogy of Risk - Wiltshire Council or email daisy.wilkinson@wiltshire.gov.uk, lizzie.shea@wiltshire.gov.uk, or Katherine.hoskin@wiltshire.gov.uk.
*Please note, ‘trilogy of risk’ differs to the term ‘toxic trio’, which refers to the impact of co-occurring domestic abuse, substance use and poor mental health on parenting. The ‘trilogy of risk’ refers to the general coexistence of these three issues, the impact this can have on an individual and their loved ones, and the additional barriers to support they may face. This awareness raising video can be shared with colleagues and members of the public for information.
