Safeguarding Week 2024 - Bookings now open
Bookings are now open for Safeguarding Week from 18th - 22nd November.
You can find the full programme here.
All the events are free, and we are pleased to be hosting a range of speakers, including:
Dr Jeremy Dixon from Cardiff University leading a session entitled 'We've got 82 cases on the screening list': How social workers assess and manage adult safeguarding under the Care Act 2014'. Dr Dixon will be summarising his research that included 3 local authorities in England and will focus on how social workers interpreted safeguarding duties as set out in the Care Act 2014. This will be of interest to anyone working with vulnerable adults and understanding how risk was prioritised.
For the children's workforce we welcome Dr Victoria Sharley, who will be presenting on her research on the role of schools in identifying and responding to issues of child neglect. Findings from the research draw attention to the challenges encountered by all practitioners when identifying indicators of neglect and responding to neglect effectively across organisational boundaries. This session is entitled ‘Responding to child neglect more effectively when working collaboratively’.
