World Suicide Prevention Day: Changing the Narrative on Suicide
Each year, 10th September marks World Suicide Prevention Day and this year the theme is all about 'Changing the Narrative on Suicide'.
This is an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on how we support our own mental and emotional wellbeing, and that of our friends, families and wider networks.
One practical way to take action, is by completing the free online training from the Zero Suicide Alliance. In just 30 minutes, it provides the tools and confidence to support someone who may be struggling.
Please be mindful of the sensitive nature of the training content. You may wish to complete the training with a trusted friend or colleague or even during a team meeting for peer support. If the training brings up difficult thoughts, please reach out - help is available.
The Samaritans offer free, 24/7 support. Call 116 123 any time you need to talk.
If you or someone you know has been bereaved by suicide, help is available: Swindon and Wiltshire Support After Suicide.
Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Information is available here: Mental health and wellbeing - Wiltshire Council.
Let’s work together to change the narrative - because even the smallest act of kindness or connection can be a powerful source of hope.
Practitioners: Join a free webinar to hear from a range of services about how we can support the mental health of children & young people, and build suicide-safer communities. See more information in the poster below. To book, please click here.
