Free Wiltshire Self-Harm Awareness and Response Training

Wiltshire Council Public Health are pleased to be offering a further series of free Self-Harm Awareness Training sessions, delivered by 4 Mental Health. These interactive online sessions are for anyone working or living in Wiltshire who would like to better understand self-harm and develop the confidence to support someone who may be struggling.

Self-Harm Awareness Training

This introductory course will help participants to:

  • Understand why people self-harm and challenge common myths and stigma.
  • Develop confidence in having supportive conversations with someone in distress.
  • Explore practical ways to support individuals and signpost them to appropriate resources. 

Whether you work with people in a professional capacity, volunteer in your community, or simply want to increase your knowledge, this training provides practical, evidence based learning and is suitable for those with no previous experience or training. 

Self-Harm Response Training

We are also offering Self-Harm Response Training, designed for those who have completed the Awareness course or already have a good foundation of knowledge about self-harm. 

This practical follow-on course helps participants build the skills and confidence to respond effectively to disclosures of self-harm, including:

  • Having supportive conversations about self-harm.
  • Using practical techniques to support individuals.
  • Developing safety plans and support networks.
  • Promoting resilience, wellbeing, and recovery.
